Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools 2022

"Through 2024, manual data integration tasks will be reduced by up to 50% through the adoption of data fabric design patterns that support augmented data integration."

Gartner defines data integration as the discipline comprising the architectural patterns, methodologies and tools that allow organizations to achieve consistent access and delivery of data across a wide spectrum of data sources and data types to meet the data consumption requirements of business applications and end users. Data integration tools enable organizations to access, integrate, transform, process and move data spanning various endpoints and across any infrastructure to support their data integration use cases.

Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Data Fabric, Q2 2022

Organizations want real-time, consistent, connected, and trusted data to support their critical business operations and insights. However, new data sources, slow data movement between platforms, rigid data transformation workflows and governance rules, expanding data volume, and distributed data across clouds and on-premises, can cause organizations to fail when executing their data strategy.

Data fabric delivers a unified, integrated, and intelligent end-to-end data platform to support new and emerging use cases. It automates all data management functions — including ingestion, transformation, orchestration, governance, security, preparation, quality, and curation — enabling insights and analytics to accelerate use cases quickly. - Forrester

A growing contingent of organizations are leveraging data fabric in the public cloud and hybrid cloud environments to support customer 360, business 360, fraud detection, IoT analytics, and real-time insights. As a result of these trends, enterprise data fabric customers should look for providers that:

- Accelerate use cases through built-in automation and intelligence

- Deliver cohesive, built-in, end-to-end data management capabilities

- Partner with professional services providers for complex deployments

Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Data Catalogs For DataOps, Q2 2022

"Metadata management is not new, but it is one of the fastest evolving and critical components of a best-in-class and modern data platform. Cloud, decoupled architecture (compute, storage, and state), API architecture, federated and distributed data estates, and device-centric digital solutions demand deeper context, lineage, and automation from metadata." Forrester

According to the report(Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Data Catalogs For DataOps, Q2 2022), enterprise data catalogs are needed to understand and activate data in a DataOps environment. It states that customers should look for the following capabilities when evaluating solutions:

Addresses the diversity, granularity, and dynamic nature of data and metadata

Generates deep transparency of the nature and path of data flow and delivery

Delivers a UI/UX that reinforces modern DataOps and engineering best practices

Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms 2022

Today’s analytics and BI platforms are augmented throughout and enable users to compose low/no-code workflows and applications.

Analytics and business intelligence (ABI) platforms enable less technical users, including businesspeople, to model, analyze, explore, share and manage data, and collaborate and share findings, enabled by IT and augmented by artificial intelligence (AI). ABI platforms may optionally include the ability to create, modify or enrich a semantic model including business rules.

ABI platform functionality includes the following 12 critical capabilities: Security, Governance , Cloud-enabled analytics, Data source connectivity, Data preparation, Catalog, Automated insights, Data visualization, Natural language query, Data storytelling, Natural language generation & Reporting

Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Database Management Systems 2021

By 2025, cloud preference for data management will substantially reduce the vendor landscape while the growth in multicloud will increase the complexity for data governance and integration.

Gartner defines the cloud DBMS market as follows. Core capabilities are that vendors fully supply provider-managed public or private cloud software systems that manage data on cloud storage. Data is stored in a cloud storage tier (such as a cloud object store, distributed data store or other proprietary cloud storage infrastructure). Optionally, they may cater to multiple data models and data types — relational, nonrelational (document, key value, wide column, graph), geospatial, time series and others.

AWS (RDS, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Nitro..), Microsoft (Synapse, Cosmos, HDInsight..), Oracle, Google (Google Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Bigtable, BigQuery, Dataproc), SAP, IBM, Teradata, Snowflake, Alibaba cloud (PolarDB, MyBase)  and Databricks (LakeHouse) are the leaders in "Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Database Management Systems 2021".
